Aka Adrian Edmondson And The Bad Shepherds, the combo also includes Maartin Allcock, Troy Donockley and Andy Dinan and have been making their name playing folk versions of old punk songs.
There's a lot in common between the spirit of punk and the spirit of folk. There are some that believe the Clash were the greatest folk band of their generation, Joe Strummer was a big fan of Cambridge. A number of folk acts have covered songs by XTC and Andy Partridge as well as the Boomtown Rats.
Adrian Edmondson was here last year supporting his daughter Ella and judging the Alligator contest. He was also floating the idea of Bad Shepherd and it's good to see that it's come to fruition
This probably won't be to everyone's taste, but it's done well and with the best intention. There's a lot of old punks who discovered folk music. This should be a lot of fun because they're serious about it. Check out debut album "Yan, Tyan, Tethera, Methera".
